Therapy Dog Visit

We are excited to announce that the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program will be returning to our school to help support our students’ mental health!

A visit with a Therapy Dog can:

  • Calm the nervous system
  • Promote physical and emotional health - reduce stress
  • Release endorphins (“feel-good hormones”)
  • Decrease loneliness
  • Help increase social interaction
  • Improve mood
  • And it’s fun!!

Each dog comes with a trainer, and each dog is tested for suitability (temperament, sociability, ability to follow the handler’s lead, cleanliness, etc.) prior to being accepted for the program.

The first session will be on Thursday, Nov. 27th @ 12:15 – 1:15 pm, in Rm. 107.

The sign-up form will be emailed to students on Nov. 20th

*Students may only sign up during their lunch or spare period.

Additional notes for students:

Students can sign up for a 5-minute time slot.
3 students per dog, per time slot.
Please come on time (we may not be able to accommodate late arrivals).
School bags must be left on the table (supervised by school staff) outside the Therapy Dog room.
